LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 420/15-390 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.81 g, 2 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with a griffin on the bowl; below, Σ. Rev. HPAKΛEIΩN Herakles standing right, strangling the Nemean lion; to left, club. HN Italy 1367. Van Keuren 16. An attractive and very well centered coin of wonderful Classical style. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
